About Dental Implants

For many people with imperfect smiles thanks to lost or damaged teeth, dental implants can restore both the look and function of teeth for improved appearance, comfort, and oral health.

Implants are made from a durable material to provide patients with a long-term solution that is easy to care for.

Advantages of Dental Implants

Implants support your natural facial structure and help to protect your oral health. When a tooth goes missing, a gap is left in the smile. This is more than an aesthetic imperfection. Other teeth may shift into this gap, causing misalignment and bite problems.

The gum left exposed by the missing tooth is also susceptible to infection. A dental implant fills in the space left by the missing tooth. It also helps protect your jawbone from deterioration.

And unlike dentures, implants are permanently fixed. When the implants are inserted into the gum, they are left for a time to heal. During this time, the implant (which consists of a titanium post) fuses with the jawbone for a permanent and reliable hold.

The Implants Procedure

The implant will then firmly root your prosthetic tooth or other dental appliance in place.

With implants, you never have to worry about slipping or sliding, taking them out to clean, or losing an essential part of your smile because you left your teeth in a cup somewhere.

Implants function much like your natural teeth. Simply brush, floss, and properly care for your implants along with your natural teeth for a healthy smile that can last a lifetime.

Benefits of Dental Implants

Implants also help to improve your ability to chew, speak, and smile with ease. Completing your smile will give you more than just a confidence boost.

It will make your daily life easier, reduce any oral discomfort or pain, and help to improve your overall health and wellbeing.

Full Mouth Reconstruction

Full mouth reconstruction refers to treatments which restore the look and function of a patient’s smile by replacing damaged or missing teeth in both the lower and upper jaws.

Also known as full mouth rehabilitation or full mouth restoration, these treatments may be used to improve an individual’s oral health prior to beginning other treatments like the placement of implants.

Because full mouth reconstruction refers to several different treatments, there is no singular process that will apply to every patient. Instead, treatments are selected, combined, and tailored to the unique needs of the individual.

review rating 5  Dr. Rostami and Dr. Masi are awesome. They both have great bedside manner, make you feel taken care of. The facilities are clean and nice. They have modern technology which makes you feel confident in their care. The ladies at the front desk, especially Letty are really helpful. The medical assistants Marina & Omar also are great. As uncomfortable as going to the dentist is, they make you feel comfortable. I keep coming here not just for the good quality of service but the people too!

review rating 5  Dr. Rostami is one of the most caring, professional and just friendly people - let along amazing dentist. What I liked most is he took a conservative approach, so while other dentists were saying I should take out my fillings for new ones, he told me at the moment they weren't necessary. I came in because of a crown adjust from previous dentist, and it turned out perfect both look and feel! Now I'm a patient for life. 🙂

review rating 5  Dr. Rostami is the most knowledgeable dentist I’ve had. He’s been my family dentist for a couple of years now. Everyone in my family goes to him and he’s been taking care of us and improving our smiles. He talks about everything that is going on in your mouth and what you exactly need. Most of the time people hate to hear what they don’t want to hear, so they complain and say oh the other dentist said I don’t need this or that. Well, his office is equipped with state of the art equipment, computers, and cameras. You can see your mouth for yourself. Top notch quality and cheap won’t fit in the same category. If you are looking for A+ dental work and perfectionist dentist, Dr Rostami is the dentist to visit. If you want a professional taking care of you I only recommend him. Thank you, Doctor Rostami for my Healthy mouth and beautiful smile.

Factors which determine the degree of treatment include general oral health, the number of teeth missing or damaged, the extent and nature of the damage, the location of missing teeth, gum health, and more.

Despite that each procedure will not be exactly the same, there are a few steps common to the full mouth rehabilitation process. We begin by conducting an exam to diagnose the nature and extent of any oral health problems.

We will then speak with you to determine what treatments will be most effective for your needs. If you lack the level of health needed to begin these treatments, we will then proceed to improve your oral health through other procedures. For example, the presence of gum disease might indicate the need for laser gum surgery.

To give you the most comfortable fit and natural-looking results possible, we carefully measure and determine the alignment of your smile. We will test the fit, color, size, and placement of your prosthetic teeth to restore function and appearance to your smile.

Invisalign

There are many people who would love to alter the look of their smiles, but don’t want to wear traditional metal braces to do so. Invisalign allows teens and adults to correct a wide range of common dental problems using aligners which are virtually invisible.

Dr. Rostami has been my dentist for several years.  Before seeing him, I hadn't gone to a dentist for about 5 years.  I had grown to hate the medical field as I don't trust doctors/dentists.  It was an absolute pleasure to finally see a dentist I could trust.  His demeanor, confidence, attitude, and experience exude trust.  His office staff is very friendly and pleasant.  They make you feel like you're part of a family.

During my first visit, Dr. Rostami took pictures of each tooth with a special camera (along with X-rays).  Then you see each tooth on a big monitor as he discuses it's condition.  This is a very interesting method and it really helped me understand the condition of each tooth!

He also has the best hygienist for cleaning.  They really take the time and do an exceptional job.  I've NEVER had cleanings this thorough from any dentist/hygienist in the past.  His regular maintenance cleanings are more thorough than some deep cleanings I've had at other places.

I can't possibly give a higher commendation to Dr. Rostami.  Highly recommended!

The staff at Brentwood Dental Group (including Dr. R) were very nice and accommodating. It was my first time at this clinic and I did not feel pressured or intimidated at all. They understood that I have a busy schedule and they made sure to accommodate my request. Dr. R himself even did my cleaning! Will definitely recommend this clinic and will be back for my next cleaning!

I feel fortunate to have found this dentist. I have been here  twice already. It really has been a pleasure dealing with the team. I came in the second time for a smile evaluation consultation as I was interested in a full mouth reconstruction. I was amazed by the dr professionalism. Dr R is very meticulous and a true perfectionist. He is also very honest and well informative. He did not try to upsell me other services. After my consultation, I decided to allow him to work on my smile with porcelain veneers since he uses the best quality material and cutting edge dental equipment. The dental team is great and makes sure you have an enjoyable experience at the office. Can't wait to start the procedure and show off my new smile

Advantages of Invisalign

Invisalign clear aligners are custom made to fit your unique smile. The perfect fit lets you wear the aligners comfortably and confidently. Other advantages of Invisalign include:

  • No need for metal wires or brackets
  • No food restrictions
  • Equally as effective as braces in giving you a gorgeous smile
  • Fewer office visits than with braces
  • Easy care of natural teeth for continued oral health
  • Simple care of aligners

What Invisalign can treat

With Invisalign, you use just one simple appliance over the upper and lower teeth at a time. New aligners will be made and implemented in stages to gradually shift teeth for a straight and beautiful smile. Invisalign can treat:

  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Gaps
  • Misalignment
  • Bite problems
  • Jaw problems
  • Crooked teeth
  • Crossbite
  • And more

Because these aligners are removable, you can eat whatever you like without worrying about sticky, hard, or chewy foods ruining your braces and your teeth. You can also remove the aligner for simple care and maintenance. Just rinse gently with toothpaste and water to remove germs and debris from the aligner as instructed by your dentist.

On average, patients with Invisalign do not need to come in for checkups and tune-ups as often as patients with traditional braces. This allows teens and adults with busy schedules to continue their active lives with minimal disruption.

The exact length of treatment will differ with each patient, but because the aligners are clear and shift teeth gradually, no matter the length of treatment, you will never need to worry about anyone noticing anything other than your beautiful smile.

All on 4 Dental Implants

While dental implants are a great way for many people to restore the health and function of a smile compromised by missing teeth, there is now a revolutionary way to place up to four implants on just a single arch, helping to maintain even more of your natural smile, increase comfort, and minimize the time treatment requires. All-on-4 implants allow multiple implants to be placed using just one arch.

Tooth loss is nothing to be ashamed of and is more common than you may know. Over 35 million Americans suffer some form of tooth loss in the upper and lower jaws. But a missing tooth can do more than make you self-conscious about smiling. The gap left by the missing tooth can lead to oral health complications such as shifting teeth, infected gums, and a deteriorating jawbone. All-on-4 dental implants help to restore your comfort, confidence, and wellbeing by eliminating gaps with minimally invasive procedures.

To understand what All-on-4 dental implants can do for you, we must first be clear about what a dental implant is. An implant is a small titanium post which is surgically inserted below the gum line. The post fuses to the jawbone for a permanent hold. This provides a durable and long-term foundation for the prosthetic tooth or teeth which will be attached to the post.

With All-on-4 implants, you can get a full set of teeth in a single day. We place up to four prosthetics per arch using the latest technology and procedures. We ensure your safety at every stage by carefully monitoring your health during and after placement. You leave the office with a complete set of teeth that match your natural smile for results you can feel good about. These prosthetics are also more than cosmetic. They restore function to your smile so you can chew and speak with ease.

Your prosthetic teeth will be custom made to match your unique smile. We account for size, shape, placement, and material to give you the most natural-looking results possible.

Laser Teeth Whitening

Many people want a beautiful, white smile, but whitening products can take too much time and effort for those leading busy lives. Whitening toothpastes, gels, and trays can also cause some people’s lips and mouth to feel excessively dry and may increase tooth sensitivity. But thanks to breakthrough technology, laser tooth whitening can reverse years of stains for a bright, gorgeous smile with little time and no discomfort.

How It Works

Brentwood Dental Group uses a high intensity bleach gel in combination with an LED light to significantly brighten teeth. Our laser tooth whitening procedure begins with placing the gel on teeth. The LED light then activates the gel in a gentle, non-invasive manner. During this time, you just sit back and relax, and by the time your visit is done, you’ll have a brilliant smile you can’t wait to show off.

As the light activates the gel, the carbamide and hydrogen peroxide in the gel are broken down. The combination of heat, oxygen, and light work together to oxidize organic deposits, leaving your teeth a whiter color. This procedure brings your tooth closer to its natural, unstained color without compromising your tooth’s health or structure.

You can get a whiter smile in just half an hour. We typically divide this time into two 15 minute sessions during a single visit. The break between allows for maximum light exposure and gel concentration, but provides a necessary recess to ensure your gums do not become irritated by the process. We can adjust the intensity of whitening for patients with tooth sensitivity. Heavy stains may require some additional treatments. We work with each patient to determine the right treatment approach to achieve your desired shade.

The exact results depend on the health and condition of a patient’s teeth. The darkness of stains, desired level of whiteness, and health of teeth all determine the results of treatment, but most patients see results ranging from 6 to 12 times whiter than before.

Tooth whitening with laser technology has been proven extremely safe and effective. Most patients report no pain or discomfort at any stage of treatment.

Temporomandibular Joint Disorders

If you suffer from jaw pain, headaches, neck pain, or soreness while chewing and speaking, you may be one of the millions of people who suffer from TMJ or TMD. This condition can impact children, adults, men and women. When the temporomandibular joint causes pain (known as temporomandibular disorder or dysfunction syndrome), TMJ treatment can provide significant relief.

Symptoms of TMJ disorder include:

  • Facial pain
  • Earaches
  • Headaches
  • Itchy or ringing ears
  • A feeling of “water” in the ears
  • Neck pain
  • Shoulder pain
  • Pain behind the eyes
  • Dizziness
  • Tooth pain or soreness
  • Jaw pain
  • Locking of the jaw
  • Inability to open mouth without pain
  • Misalignment of the jaw

Brentwood Dental Group is proud to help patients find relief through TMJ therapy or TMJ treatment. We use advanced technology and procedures to provide patients with solutions to reduce and manage TMJ pain.

An i-CAT cone beam CT scan provides a 3D diagnostic image that allows us to closely examine the condition of the temporomandibular joints and create a detailed treatment plan.

A T-Scan allows us to determine if there is misalignment of the bite. If you feel that your teeth do not align properly or do not “fit” together, this can help to determine the problems impacting you.

Splints and joint stabilizations can reposition a locked, dislocated, or misaligned jaw joint into the correct anatomical position.

An oral appliance worn either during the day or night can help to reduce inflammation, stabilize the jaw, and reduce other sources of TMJ pain. These appliances may be fixed or removable based on the patient’s needs.

If you suffer from TMJ pain, contact Brentwood Dental Group to learn how we can be of assistance. We personalize TMJ therapy to provide relief to patients in the Brentwood area. Our caring team, led by Dr. Haroun Rostami, are here to provide you with answers and solutions to your dental needs. Give us a call today to schedule an appointment with us.

Dental Crowns in Brentwood

Dental crowns can function as both a cosmetic and oral health solution for damaged or imperfect natural teeth. Dental crowns cover the natural tooth, offering extra protection and a natural-looking solution to provide the smile you want.

Advantages

Dental Crowns, also known as dental caps, are also a lasting solution. With proper care, your crown can last more than 10 years. That means you can enjoy a natural-looking, healthier, more beautiful smile for a decade or more with this one long-lasting treatment. Crowns may be used to provide a natural tooth with an extra layer of protection. Caps may also function as the support mechanism for a dental bridge.

Caring for your crown means following your dentist’s instructions on how to brush and floss properly. You should also avoid grinding your teeth, chewing hard objects, or biting your nails. This will prolong the durability and lifespan of your crown.

The Placement Process

At Brentwood Dental Group, we can place a crown in as little as two visits. The first step in the placement process is to prepare the natural tooth. We use X-rays to determine if there is any damage which should be corrected prior to placement. If, for instance, there is decay or infection which could compromise the success of treatment, we will first correct those issues. Special dental materials may also be used to strengthen the foundation for your crown.

To prepare for the crown, the natural tooth is reshaped and filed down. This guarantees a comfortable fit for the crown so your treatment will last for years. After the tooth is reshaped, we will take an impression of your tooth. From this impression, a custom crown is made that will fit your reshaped tooth like a glove, match the color and size of your neighboring teeth, and align with your smile and bite. The crown is made over the course of two to three weeks. To protect your natural tooth during this time, we will place a temporary crown over your natural tooth before you leave your first visit.

During the second visit, Dr. Rostami will place your permanent crown. Anesthetic is applied to ensure your treatment is pain-free. Once the crown is placed, we will go over all instructions for follow-up care. Last, all that remains is for you to enjoy your gorgeous new smile for years to come!

Dental Veneers in Brentwood

Dental porcelain veneers can enhance your smile by correcting the appearance of crooked, chipped, and stained teeth. Dental porcelain veneers are made from a ceramic material and placed on the surface of teeth. Each veneer is custom-made to match the size, color, and alignment of your unique smile for natural-looking results.

What are veneers?

Veneers are made from a very light, thin porcelain shell applied to the front of teeth.

Read Ahmed R.‘s review of Haroun Rostami, DDS on Yelp

Read Paola B.‘s review of Haroun Rostami, DDS on Yelp

What are the advantages of using dental veneers?

Because of the material’s ability to handle light in much the same manner as a natural tooth, porcelain veneers look highly natural. Veneers also require far less removal of the natural tooth to place compared with dental crowns. While crowns can be a good solution for many patients, veneers may be the better choice for those looking to simply enhance the appearance of their smile through a minimally invasive treatment. If your natural teeth are healthy, but simply do not look the way you want them to, then veneers may be right for you.

How long do veneers last?

To prolong the life of your veneers, you should continue good oral hygiene practices such as brushing and flossing your teeth twice a day. You should also avoid excessive force such as biting into something very hard with your veneers.

With proper care, veneers can last anywhere from seven to twenty years. Regular checkups ensure the continued health of your natural teeth and your veneers.

Laser Gum Treatment

Laser gum surgery offers patients a revolutionary way to treat periodontal disease without the use of a scalpel or sutures as with traditional surgery. Laser gum surgery is far less invasive and provides a significantly more comfortable experience for patients. Learn more about laser gum surgery below.

How Soft Tissue Lasers Works

A laser operates at a specific wavelength which distinguishes infected tissue from healthy gum tissue. This allows the dentist to target infected gums and cut away the compromised tissue to stop gum disease in its tracks. The healthy tissue remains while the bacteria and disease causing pain and damage to your oral health is removed.

Unlike traditional surgery, which often requires pain medication and down time, the laser procedure is so minimally invasive that most patients require no prescriptions and can return to work immediately. And because soft tissue laser only targets the infected gums, there is either little or no recession of the gum line due to treatment. Recession of the gum line can cause teeth to become sensitive and to appear elongated, so maintaining your natural healthy tissue is always an advantage.

The laser targets bacteria in the pockets of infection to eliminate periodontal disease. The laser reduces inflammation and allows your healthy tissue to remain untouched. The laser also stimulates the bone surrounding the tooth root. This encourages regeneration, which can allow you to keep your natural teeth rather than have them removed.

Soft tissue lasers often reverses periodontal disease, allowing patients to regain and maintain complete oral health. Gum disease is highly common among adults. Using laser treatment to eliminate this painful and damaging disease can help many adults feel better faster with minimal cost in time or discomfort.

To learn more about laser treatment options for gum disease, give Brentwood Dental Group a call today. We will be glad to answer any questions you may have and help you schedule an appointment at our office in the Brentwood and Beverly Hills areas.

Dentures

Dentures can provide restored appearance and function to smiles damaged by missing teeth. Complete dentures provide a full set of teeth for those missing all or most of their natural teeth. Partial dentures fill in spaces left by a few missing teeth in order to make chewing, speaking, and smiling easier. Filling in these gaps also keeps other teeth from shifting and provides needed support to your facial structure.

A complete denture comes in one of two forms: “immediate” or “conventional.” Conventional dentures are those which are made to provide a long-term solution. A conventional denture is crafted after all of a patient’s natural teeth have been removed and the gum tissue has had time to heal. The healing process can take anywhere from four to six weeks. During this four-to-six week period, the patient will use the immediate dentures as a temporary solution. These dentures are not made to last long-term, but will provide the patient with a full set of teeth so they do not go without teeth while waiting for the conventional dentures.

Dentures are durable and meant to last for several years. However, changes in gum tissue, alignment or the device may require adjustments to be made. Dentures can be readjusted, remade, and repaired depending on the patient’s needs.

You may require a partial or complete denture in the following circumstances:

Partial dentures can restore several teeth missing in an arch. Complete dentures replace all teeth in an arch.

Dentures can also be used to enhance your smile and facial tissue.

If you have trouble chewing or speaking, dentures can aid In these tasks, too.

How long does the process take?

Dentures require several appointments. The treatment usually takes several weeks to complete and dentures will always require checkups to ensure your oral health and the effectiveness of the device.

To learn if dentures are right for you, please give us a call today. Brentwood Dental Group is dedicated to helping Brentwood area residents get healthy, beautiful smiles that improve their daily lives. Call us today to schedule an appointment with us.
